Low-back pain is one of the most frequently reported musculoskeletal complaints. A recent study published in The SPINE Journal concludes that spinal manipulation therapy, such as provided through Chiropractic Care, is most likely to reduce chronic low back pain and improve function when compared to other approaches. Multiple studies highlighted in an article published in the ACA News revealed that spinal manipulation therapy was cost-effective when compared to other treatments, including general medical practice, physical therapy and exercise. In fact, one-study found that healthcare expenditures for patients with low back pain, neck pain and headaches were all lower in those who received chiropractic care alone when compared to any other combination of healthcare providers. In all, over 30 studies were conducted examining the safety, effectiveness and/or cost-efficiency of various manipulation and mobilization therapies for treatment of chronic low back pain, neck pain and/or headaches. According to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the value of chiropractic care, results show that both manipulation and mobilization are likely to reduce pain and improve function for patients with chronic low back pain, but that spinal manipulation – most often performed by a doctor of chiropractic – produces a larger effect than mobilization alone. Dr. Dukes commented, “The research proves what we already know, that Chiropractic care improves patient outcomes – patients get back to living life on their terms faster, and with less out of pocket cost. And, with more and more patients aware of the dangers of opioids and invasive surgeries, chiropractic care is and should be the first-choice of patients suffering from back pain, neck pain or headaches.” You don't have to continue suffering. If you're experiencing back or neck pain or headaches, chiropractic care may help you find relief. Call Dr. Dukes today. Schedule an examination. Find out if chiropractic care is right for you.
